Our job was to create a branded video asset for Turning Points for Children for their annual fundraising gala. The purpose of the video was to highlight a personal story of a family that TPFC directly impacts.
Learn more about Turning Points for ChildrenWe connected with Lisa, the subject of our video, to authentically capture her experience with kinship care. Of all the profile submissions, Lisa's story was chosen to share because she is committed to supporting families in similar situations. As a production agency experienced with non-profit storytelling, we interviewed Lisa and created a project highlighting her family while adding a layer of advocacy for kinship care.
"A champion is a person who advocates for someone else and gives unconditional care. Kinship parents are champions."
Lisa is the maternal grandmother to her two grandchildren. Her role as their kinship guardian is unique to her family but common in the TPFC community. For this story, we wanted to showcase how kinship care is sometimes the best option for growing families. For our story arch, we decided to have two settings. The first is at Lisa's house because her home is a character element. We wanted to showcase Lisa's genuine connection with her grandchildren in their shared space. Secondly, shooting at the park added a layer of joy and optimism. With aspirations of being a professional basketball player, Lisa's grandson plays basketball. Her granddaughter shows off her energetic personality as she climbs around the playground.
